Case Study

Ongoing HR support for a C.I.C through our retainer service

We provide ongoing, retained HR support to a CIC managing a range of people challenges while balancing cost, compliance, and community impact.


We updated their HR policies and employment contract templates to ensure they were legally compliant and fit for purpose. Alongside this, we identified ways to improve employee retention, recognising that salary alone was driving churn. We recommended low-cost benefits and changes that strengthened their overall offer without increasing overheads.


We also supported with day-to-day issues, including managing probation periods and guiding them through a safe and fair exit for an employee who was not suitable for the role.


To strengthen leadership capability, we delivered manager training on the new duty to prevent sexual harassment. This included helping them create practical risk assessments, clear briefing materials, and giving managers confidence to handle concerns appropriately.


As a retained partner, we act as a sounding board for wider decisions—advising on cost, reputational impact, and how to manage change with funders and service users.


Outcome:
The CIC now has stronger HR foundations, more confident managers, and clearer, well-informed decision-making across the organisation.
